Federal Trade Commission announces final “Click-to-Cancel” rule
Making it easier for consumers to end recurring subscriptions and memberships
👀 Quick look
The FTC is changing its rules about those annoying subscription services that keep charging you even when you don't want them anymore.
Here's the lowdown:
No More Tricks: Companies can't lie about the subscription, the product, or anything related to the deal.
Spell It Out: They have to clearly tell you all the important details before they even ask for your payment info.
Easy Out: They have to make it super easy to cancel—no hoops to jump through!
These rules apply to any kind of subscription, whether it's a regular delivery, a free trial that turns into a paid one, or those memberships that automatically renew. And it doesn't matter if you signed up online, over the phone, or in person—the rules are the same.
The goal is to stop companies from tricking people into subscriptions they don't want and make it easy to get out when you need to.
